Daniel DuBois gets a promotion in the Boxing News rankings

WHETHER he agrees to a rematch or goes the other way, Daniel Dubois' fifth-round knockout of Anthony Joshua certainly left the 27-year-old in a significantly stronger position.

DuBois' victory sent him up the ladder Boxing News Rankings from sixth to third in our world top 10. Only two men remain ahead of Daniel: Alexander Usyk and Tyson Fury, who meet in a rematch on December 21. Usyk had already defeated Dubois by ninth-round stoppage in a Polish affair in 2023. .

However, given Dubois' success that night, mixed with the endless low blow controversy, followed by wins over Jarell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and now Joshua, the heavy hitter would fancy his chances in a second attempt. If Usyk beats Fury, of course. If Fury wins, depending on the circumstances, then there could be a third fight on the table, leaving the best of the rest to fight each other for scraps under the table.

Anthony Joshua's stunning defeat saw him fall to Zhilei Zhang and Joseph Parker, the latter being a heavyweight who was already victorious. Zhang also lost to Parker, but will be considered a handful for anyone. The Chinese southpaw is said to be close to agreeing to a bout with another heavyweight beast in Boxing News No. 10 ranked heavyweight Martin Bakole.

Fast-rising Agit Kabayel, who has been talking about a possible fight with Joseph Parker next, is seventh as he looks to break into the top five. Deontay Wilder (#9) and Filip Hrgovic (#8) are currently clinging to their respective spots.
