Tyson Fury's chances of becoming a three-time heavyweight champion in 2025, 2026 or 2027 look bleak after his recent loss to unified champion Alexander Usyk last week.
If Fury is going to have any chance of becoming a world title shot, he needs to make some drastic changes to his lifestyle and training methods. First, it must be locked in type of asylum training camp where there is no way to get to the kitchen.
His current trainer, SugarHill Steward, has to go. He should be thrown out and replaced by a trainer from the dark ages.
He needs someone to torture him for four solid months to whip him into shape with non-stop training and exercises that make him puke afterwards. He obviously hasn't been working hard because you always look as fat as him if you've put in a lot of work.
He will need a Grand Inquisitor the kind of coach to roll back the years and bring Fury back to his retro 2015 form. Someone who will put him through real hell, pushing him to the breaking point when he begs to quit, is the perfect solution to get him back to the Gypsy King vintage that beat Klitschko in 2015.
Fury is so far gone living the life of a rich millionaire that it might be too late even for a sadistic old trainer to revamp him. Like many rich athletes, he doesn't want to work as hard as he used to.
The way 'The Gypsy King' performed against Usyk, he would be fodder for IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois if he chooses to go that route in a bid to become a three-time world champion in 2025. Fury's strike resistance is gone after 16 years in the professional game.
We saw Fury's eyes roll back into his head when he was hit multiple times in his rematch against Usyk. He didn't land as many punches as Usyk boxed him mostly, but if he faced Dubois it would be bad for the old Gyspy King.
I don't think Fury will escape the first round because his chin is no better than Anthony Joshua's. Dubois obliterated poor AJ last summer on September 21st.
Yes, Fury is rich, but he's still ambitious and driven, and he'll want to win another world title so he can tell the fans, “I told you so.” He needs to win a world title for validation and gloat to prove himself to all the doubters who think he's straight.
