If Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua fight this year in 2025, who will win?
The rivalry between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua has been around for years, but it only exists outside the ring and in theory. Once upon a time Fury was the WBC and outright heavyweight champion of the world, Joshua was the unified IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion and the expectation was that these two would have an inevitable clash for undisputed heavyweight supremacy. However, this never happened.
Currently, Fury and Joshua are showing signs of decline. Joshua has a 6-4 record in his last 10 fights, which include a loss against Andy Ruiz Jr., two losses against reigning heavyweight king Oleksandr Usyk, and most recently he was destroyed by Daniel Dubois. Fury is coming off back-to-back losses, the only 2 losses of his pro career, both against Usyk. In the end, neither Fury nor Joshua proved to be the best in this era. Instead, Alexander Usyk won the division, and he did so in very impressive style, becoming the first undisputed World Heavyweight Champion in the modern era of the 4 belts after his first of two victories against Fury.
As for Usyk, the most logical next opponent for him would be the winner of the upcoming fight between Daniel DuBois and Joseph Parker. However, the winner of this fight could potentially get a much bigger payday opportunity than against Usyk if they defend against Fury or especially Joshua instead. That aside, assuming the Dubois-Parker winner faces Usyk next, then a Fury vs. AJ fight makes a lot of sense for both Fury and Joshua.
The truth of the matter is that even though neither is a champion and even though both are past their primes, a fight between Fury and Joshua remains an interesting prospect with lasting implications for both heavyweights. It will also undoubtedly be a huge event where both fighters will be in line to make an awful lot of money.
