Tyson Fury has announced his retirement from boxing… for about the 47th time. This time he retired after back-to-back losses to Alexander Usyk. Yes, the same Fury who once said he would fight anyone, anywhere, anytime has decided to call it quits. Again. maybe
The 36-year-old heavyweight was outclassed by Usyk in their December rematch, but no one expected him to throw in the towel just yet. He has retired before though. And unretired. Then retired again. Predicting Fury's next move is like guessing the weather in Manchester – luck.
Just last week, Anthony Joshua stirred things up by saying the Fury fight “had to happen” this year. Saudi boxing great Turki Alalshih even hinted at making the all-British blockbuster a reality. Wembley Stadium was said to be booked, fans went wild and boxing Twitter was in total meltdown.
But no. Fury took to social media with one of his signature cryptic messages:
“Hi everyone, I'll keep this short and sweet. I would like to announce my retirement from boxing. It was great, I loved every minute of it. I'll end with this – Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everyone, see you on the other side.”
Dick Turpin? a mask? Is this a retirement speech or an audition for a historical drama?

Let's be honest, Fury's retirement carries as much weight as a featherweight boxer. Do you remember 2022? After beating Dillian Whyte, he called it quits, only to return later that year to fight Derek Chisora. Then he even made a dramatic speech:
“Every good dog has his day. As the great Roman leader said, there will always be someone else to fight. When is enough, enough?'
Apparently “enough” lasts until the next big paycheck. So is this the end of Tyson Fury's career? But if history teaches us anything, we'll see him back in the ring — possibly with a new set of apologies and another cryptic Instagram post.
