Garcia DROPS Tip: 'Can't wait' – Lomachenko or Lopez next?

Ryan Garcia posted today on X saying that he “I can't wait” to tell the fans who he will be fighting next. He says the fans can't tell he's taking “weak fights,” which is a signal that he will NOT rematch Devin Haynie next because that match will be seen as weak by the fans.

De La Hoya's influence

The potential opponents that many believe Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs) could face next include one of these fighters:

– Teofimo Lopez
– Vasyl Lomachenko

Of those two, Teofimo (21-1, 13 KOs) would be the most likely, as Golden Boy Promotions boss Oscar De La Hoya has said he wants him next for Ryan. Teofimo was also in London for the Ring Awards party and met Turki Al-Sheikh. The fight is easy as Teo is unopposed and fights in the same division as Ryan at 140.

Teofimo still holds the WBO welterweight title and is one of the most popular fighters in the division. This would be an excellent fight and the promotion will be huge because Theo can help get the fans interested. It wasn't just Ryan doing all the heavy lifting like when he was fighting Devin Haney.

Kingry and Haney will probably fight again in 2025, provided Devin and Bill don't try to manage Ryan by acting like the A-side and insisting he agree to VADA testing. Boxing fans are still interested in a second fight between the two, despite the one-sided nature of their clash last April.

Avoiding the mud

If you're Garcia, maybe he'd better wash his hands of Haney and move on permanently. If he fights him, he will likely tarnish the promotion by reminding fans and media that Kingry tested positive for Ostarine in the previous fight. Devin will probably mention it so often that Ryan's name will be dragged through the mud many times as the battle unfolds. There would be no victory because his reputation would be tarnished.

Pure rest

It won't go any further if the fans think Garcia is a drug cheat, as Haynie has told them over and over that he was dirty about the previous fight. It wouldn't be worth it for Ryan to take on Devin in the long run. It would be nice if Haynie didn't keep talking about Garcia's positive test, but he was already talking up a storm about it last week during interviews during his training in London.
