Fuji TV top managers in Japan resign due to a sexual scandal | News of sexual abuse

The chairman and the president are withdrawing to take responsibility for the expanding scandal with a sexual assault related to a leading celebrity.

The Japanese Fuji Media says that its chairman and the head of its television department will withdraw immediately against the backdrop of investigating an alleged sexual misconduct by a celebrity television presenter.

President Shuji Kano and television President Koichi Minao retired on Monday, weeks after presenter Masahiro Nakai was accused of sexual violence, which caused a storm in public relations and a massive leaving for advertisers.

It is reported that 52-year-old Nakai later paid the woman 90 million yen ($ 580,000) and they both signed an agreement to do not disclose information.

Although Nakai worked for many Japanese television networks, the dinner at which the incident happened was settled by one of the leaders of the television operator.

One of the magazines, Shukan Bunshun, also announced that the same CEO has collected women's television personalities at a hotel to act as fun for Nakai and other celebrities.

Dozens of brands, including McDonald's and Toyota, have downloaded ads from a private television operator after employees have been accused of trying to cover up the scandal.

As the tension increases, cano and Minao announce their decision to leave.

“I would like to apologize sincerely to the affected women for failing to provide adequate care for lack of awareness of human rights,” cano told reporters.

“I apologize to viewers, advertisers, company members, shareholders … For the great concern and the inconvenience caused by a series of news reports,” he added.

Earlier this month, Mina admitted that the Fuji TV knew about the scandal before being reported by local media.

The company denies the claims that their staff was involved in organizing the NAAI meeting with the woman who took place at the star's home.

Niak, a former member of the Smap boy band, who swept the Asia charts in the 1990s and 2000s, announced his retirement on Thursday after being thrown out of the Fuji TV shows and other channels.

“Only I am responsible for everything” and “I am sincerely apologizing,” Nakai said. Previously, he came up with a statement stating that part of the report was “different from the facts”.

Fuji television was proud of the highest viewer rating in Japan in the 1980s and early 1990s with its soap operas and popular comedy and variety shows.

He broadcast the first animation in the country Astro Boy in 1963 and also produced films, including Hirokazu Kore-Eda's Shoplifters, which won the 2018 Golden Palm in Cannes.

The Nakai scandal follows another huge payment in the industry, including the non -existent boy Empire Johnny & Associates to which SMAP belongs.

Johnny & Associates, who now changed her name, admitted in 2023 that her late founder Johnny Kitagawa had been having sexual boys and young men sexually for decades.
