The director of the Hospital in Kamal Advan in Gaza has been subjected to various forms of intensive torture and inhuman treatment in Israeli military prison, his lawyer told Al Jazeera.

There was no “legal justification” about Abu Safia's arrest, the lawyer said, adding that “every charge needs evidence and as long as there is no evidence, there is no real complete accusation against Dr. Husam.”
The lack of medical attention, combined with the horrific conditions in “very cold prison cells”, “greatly influenced” the health of the doctor, he said, adding that he “faced a lot of suffering in his detention and detention.”
