Kanberra says the Chinese Flares aircraft is approaching its aircraft aircraft as China accuses Australia of penetrating airspace.
Australia has accused China of “dangerous” military maneuver after a Chinese fighter dropped flames near Air Air Force Air Force patrol South China SeaExtract a quick discount from Beijing.
Australian defense forces said on Thursday that its aircraft was flying a “routine” patrol to monitor the contested waters on February 11, when Chinese aircraft Shenyang J-16 approached.
He added that the aircraft “put Flares in the immediate vicinity” on the Poseidon Poseidon monitoring aircraft, describing the incident as a “dangerous and unprofessional maneuver, which poses a risk to the aircraft and staff.”
Australia Minister of Defense Richard Marles said the flames had passed within 30 meters (100 feet) from the aircraft, which usually carries about nine people.
No one was injured, but Marles said the move was the “potential for significant damage”.
He told Sky News that employees had expressed their dissatisfaction with their Chinese counterparts in Canberra and Beijing.
The Australian government has “expressed their concerns” to China because of the incident.
Beijing quickly backed away, accusing the Australian aircraft of “Violating Chinese Sovereignty and endangering Chinese national security.”
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Goo Jiacun said “without Chinese permission, the Australian military aircraft deliberately invaded the airspace around the Chinese Xisha,” Beijing's name for The Paracel IslandsS
The Paracel Islands group is also claimed by Vietnam and Taiwan.
“China's measures to throw away the aircraft were legal, legal, professional and restrained,” Goo said.
He added that Beijing had “filed solemn ideas” with Canber to request the termination of “violations and provocations”.
China claims almost the entire South China Sea, despite the international decision in 2016. Without legal basisS
The incident in the middle is the most new in a number of episodes between China and Australia in the increasing airspace and Asia transport sails.
It also coincided with the arrival of three vessels of the Chinese Navy in the waters northeast of the mainland of Australia.
Australia's Ministry of Defense officials said a Chinese frigate and cruiser were spotted near Australia's “marine approaches” with a supply tanker.
Marles said it seemed not to be related to the airplane incident, but the Australian Navy sent its frigate to overshadow their journey.
“Australia respects the rights of all countries to exercise freedom of navigation and to overflow in accordance with international law, just as we expect others to comply with Australia's right to do the same,” the Ministry of Defense said.
