A suicide striker has blown up explosives near a government building in the Afghan capital Kabul, killing one person and wounded three others, a Taliban The government spokesman said.
The attacker tried to enter the Afghan Ministry of Urban Development and Housing Construction in Kabul on Thursday, but was shot dead by security forces, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior said Abdul Matein Kani on Thursday.
A doctor at Kabul's Emergency Hospital, speaking on condition of anonymity, told AFP News that the victims had been taken to the treatment restaurant after the blast.
No group has taken responsibility for the attack.
Security challenges
The attack was directed to a busy part of the city, which houses government services, as well as foreign embassies, including the United States Embassy, which was left free as NATO's US and foreign forces withdrew from the country in 2021.
The withdrawal of the US -led forces of NATO came 20 years after a military invasion of the country to dispose of the Taliban armed group from power. The invasion came after the Taliban was accused of providing safe shelters to Al -Qaeda members, which is thought to be behind the deadly attacks on September 11 on US soil.
The Taliban, who held an armed rebellion during the period, took over the country in 2021 and promised to restore the security of the war -torn nation. But the attacks continue, many claimed by the local unit of the armed group ISIL (ISIS).
This attack is the second this week after a suicide bomber blew up explosives attached to his body in front of a bank in northeastern Afghanistan on Tuesday, killing at least five people.
Isil made several attacks after the Taliban's return to power.
