Kizza Besigye became “critically ill” during a hunger strike against imprisonment, his lawyer says.
Uganda turned a controversial plan for conducting a military test for a prominent leader of the opposition due to his unsuccessful health.
The Minister of Information, Chris Bariomuni, announced late on Sunday that Kizza Besigye will be transferred to a civil court. The announcement came against the backdrop of reports that a hunger strike was temporarily moved to a medical clinic.
Bariomuns had ever visited Bessiga in prison to call him to end his hunger strike until his case was moved. The veteran opposition leader has been charged with illegal possession of firearms and threatening State Security.

Bessiga's wife, Sword Banya, called the Minister's visit “highly suspicious”.
“You are not a concerned visitor. You are his abductor, “she said to X.” We will hold you and your government completely responsible for any harm that comes to him. “
A longtime critic of President Yvery Museveni, Bessigay has been in prison for the maximum security of Luzia in the capital Campal in November. The lawyers tell him that he was “Abducted” in neighboring Kenya and forcibly brought to Uganda.
Rights and opposition MPs have condemned the arrest. Amnesty International marks the detention of Besigye “Transvestite of Justice”.
Bessigay began a hunger strike last week, an act his wife described as his “act of protest” against “illegal detention”. The lawyer warned him on Thursday that the opposition figure had become “critically ill”.
The public protest on the detention of the demons grew after he appeared in court on Friday, looking fragile and struggling to walk.
On Sunday, Bessigay was put in a wheelchair at a health clinic in Campal. A relative told the local media that the opposition figure was “not in a good situation”.
Bessige has been arrested repeatedly over the years, including in 2022 of Charges of inciting violenceS
He is running for president against Museven, who has ruled the East African country since 1986, four times. He lost all elections, but rejected the results and the alleged fraud and intimidation of voters.
Over the decades, the Museven government has been accused of repeated violations of human rights against opposition leaders and supporters, including illegal detainees, torture and out -of -court murders.
Authorities in Uganda have rejected these allegations, saying that the arrested were legally held and received a proper process in the judiciary.
The government said earlier in a military court It would be unconstitutional.
