Four killed in collapse on the road of South Korea | News


An increased part of the construction highway collapsed in Anseong, killing or injuring all 10 workers present.

Four people were killed and six were injured in South Korea after elevated parts of the highway under construction collapsed on Tuesday, fire authorities said.

The National Fire Agency said 10 people work on the site in Anseong, about 65 km (40 miles) south of the capital Seoul.

The incident happened at 9:49 (00:49 GMT) when five 50-meter (164 feet) steel structures supporting the highway bridge, grabbing workers in the rubble.

The reason for the collapse was unknown immediately.

The Ministry of Earth, Infrastructure and Transport said it was sending a team of employees to the accident.

Hyundai Engineering, the site builder, apologized for the loss of life and injuries.

“We are actively cooperating with the relevant authorities to ensure a speedy recovery of the site and a thorough investigation of the exact cause of the accident,” the company said in a message from the Yonhap news agency.
