Fifty years after a documentary was confiscated by a bank, the indigenous population of Panama of the indigenous population regains its history.
The French director's promise to the local community in Panama was broken when his documentary disappeared. The Kuna people had opened their lives to be documented in 1975, but they never knew the production had dried and the movie reels were seized by a bank.
For half a century, the community has been looking for lost staff, as its history has become a legend, betrayed by elders to younger generations. Decades later, the disintegrating reels were discovered at the Panama Ministry of Culture and a hidden copy of the Resurfaces movie in Paris. As the elders tell the process of making films, a new generation is rising to restore its cultural story.
Panama's lost movie is a documentary by Andres Peyroot.
