South Korea says military jet bombs have missed bombs, injuring civilians | Military news

The Air Force of South Korea says he accidentally missed eight bombs in the wrong place during a training exercise.

The South Korea Air Force said one of its fighter jets had accidentally dropped eight bombs in the wrong place during a training exercise, leading to civil injuries.

“Eight general-purpose MK-82 bombs were unusually released from the KF-16 Air Force, landing outside the specified firing range,” the Air Force said on Thursday.

The incident happened around 10am (01:00 GMT) in Pocheon, about 25 km (16 miles) south of the highly fortified border with nuclear armed North Korea.

“We are deeply sorry for the unforeseen release of bombs, which led to civilian casualties and we wish those who were injured in a speedy recovery,” the Air Force said.

It says he set up a committee to respond to accidents to investigate the incident and say that “he will take all necessary measures, including compensation for damage.”

The Air Force said the military aircraft was involved in a joint live exercise, including the Air Force and the Army. “

South Korea is conducting combined live training with the United States on Thursday in Pocheon, State -funded Yonhap reported.

The South Korea National Fire Agency said the bombs “suggest that they have fallen to the countryside during a joint exercise in South Korea-Jasta.”

This led to “victims and property damage, with many displaced residents,” he said, adding that four people had been seriously injured and three had suffered minor injuries.

A church building and sections of two houses were damaged, according to the statement.

The joint military exercises of South Korea and the United States, one of the largest annual joint exercises for the Allies, should begin later this month.

The two Koreas remained technically at war, as the conflict in 1950-1953 ended with a truce, not a peace treaty.

The US stations tens of thousands of soldiers to the south, partly to protect Seoul from Pyongyang.
