The New York Athletic Committee has been reported to have chosen to maintain a Tank of Davis Davis Tank against Lamont Roach with 12 rounds instead of canceling the results of their collision on March 1 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Surprisingly, the match will not be changed to a win for Roach (25-1-2, 10 CO), as the WBA WBA champion Davis (30-0-1, 28 KO) took a knee in the ninth round, second after the impact. He then got up and returned to his corner to wipe his coach to wipe her hair out of his eyes without the referee giving a timing.
Lance Pugmire reports X That they told him that NYSAC would not change the result of the battle with tank-Roch. The results were 115-113 for the tank, 114-114 and 114-114.
It would be interesting to know what justification of the New York Commission to maintain the equality of the fight. Whether the Gervona had a hair fat in his eyes, he should be deducted from him when he took his knee, and a disqualification given when he turned his back and walked to his corner to wipe his face.
Social media boxing fans are not surprised by the NYSAC that they do not change the results because they think that Tank's star power is making it someone who receives special treatment. If the results of the duel had been changed by the committee, giving a loss of the gervanta, would he choose never to fight again in New York?
Davis is expected to give a rematch to Roach, but we will see if he does it. He may want to move on if he can get a more duty fight against Vasily Lomachenko, Ryan Garcia or Jake Paul.
Roach started slowly in the match without throwing much strokes in the first half of the race. But down the second half, he ahead of the tank, opposing it and angry it. From frustration, the tank began to use the tactics of the rough house against Roach, trying to gain control of the battle. Nothing works.
