A man arrested over the North Sea clash, a Russian citizen, says owner | Delivery news


British police are investigating the cause of a cargo ship crash and an anchored fuel tanker in the United States.

The captain of a cargo ship, which hit a tanker in the US in the North Sea, is a Russian citizen, the owners of the ship said as police continued his investigations into the incident.

Sea safety records suggest that Solong had some minor problems with inspection last year, but nothing is considered a reason to retain the ship.

“Ernst RoS confirms that all the shortcomings found during routine inspections of the state at the port of Solong in 2024 were immediately corrected,” the company said.

While the branch for the UK's maritime accident investigation will collect initial information about the crash, US and Portuguese authorities – the states of the ship's flag, will bear a comprehensive responsibility for the incident investigation.
