Syrians mark the anniversary of the revolution with roses, songs and heavy security | News


Syrian flags and revolutionary songs fill the streets on a day of celebration against the background of strict security.

The roses filled the Syrian capital Damascus as people openly celebrated the anniversary of the revolution for the first time in 14 years after the removal of longtime ruler Bashar al -Assad late last year.

The civilians on Saturday were spotted waving the Syrian flag and singing revolutionary songs against the background of narrow security measures.

While people were celebrating on Saturday, an explosion in the coastal city of Latakia killed at least three people and wounds 12, Sana State Information Agency reported. The Syrian Observatory to monitor human rights later stated that the explosion was an incident as a result of a resident's attempt to dismantle unplaced ammunition in a building.
