Epo Ajagba says it will be “Hard” For Ferres Crawford to move to 168 to fight in a foreign weight class, in which he never competed during his 17-year professional career on September 13th. Although Ajagba thinks Crawford (41-0, 31 CO) is “strong”, this will still be a problem for him that has jumped in two divisions.
Crawford has only recently moved from average weight to junior average last year. His fight against Israil Madimov on 154 last August showed that his strength and speed were getting worse by how he performed at 147. This will be more pronounced in super average weight (168), unless Crawford develops newly discovered forces. This is rare for a fighter that is approaching 40 and looks 50.
Crawford's power is insufficient for the 168-foot division. He could not kill Madimov because of the lack of pop, and now he was fighting Kanello, who fought at 175 against Sergei Kovalev and Dmitry Bivol. It's not like Crawford to go to Walmart and buy some power before September 13.
“He is strong, but when you move to the weight (168), it will be difficult for you to fight,” said Epo Ajagba to Sean Titel For Ferres Crawford, it moves in two classes of 154 to fight Canelo Alvarez on 168.
Ajagba understands what this move would be to Crawford. He knows he will take too big a jump and he is not young. Crawford again looks like a 50-year-old man now. He lived a difficult life in the ring and this is physically shown on him.
“When you move with weight to fight cinnamon, this is not your weight class. This is not what you have been fighting before,” said Ajagba. “So he won't be comfortable, but Canello will be comfortable with this weight to fight Crawford. I prefer Crawford to go down.”
The worsening power of CROFORD
Powerwise, Bud Crawford was exceptional at 135, 140 and 147, but only on average at 154. He wisely skipped 160, where he would be dramatically subordinate, and now moves to 168. He will be on the low spectrum and will be forced to rely on Jaba as his main weapon against Kanelo.
Crawford cannot afford to stand again in the center of the ring Canelo because there will be holes drilled through it. Crawford's face seemed to be beaten by Little GGG Madimov and he is not at Alvarez level.
