Chris Eubank Jr began another legal battle, this time over his allegations against Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing and the British Boxing Board of Control.
It was in September, at the launch press conference for his rematch with Conor Benn this Saturdaythat the 36-year-old targeted both organizations.
For the first battle in Aprilthe Brighton man not only tried to meet the agreed 160lb limit, which he fell short of, but also stayed under the rehydration ceiling for the second day of 170lb.
As a result of the weight stipulations and his truly grueling 12-round victory over Benn, Eubank was hospitalized for two days due to severe dehydration.
During the press conference, Eubank claimed that Matchroom was responsible for the delay in his ambulance transporting him to the Royal London Hospital after he singled out Benn in April.
“These bitches (Matchroom) blocked the ambulance for 20 minutes not letting it leave the stadium. If it was a serious injury, those 20 minutes could have been the difference between life and death.”
Hearn quickly denied any such allegations, while adding that all medical events on the night of the fight were recorded by paramedics, with the data then passed on to the Board.
Last week, however, Eubank doubled down on his claims, posting a 10-second clip on social media of his ambulance trying to leave Tottenham Hotspur's stadium in April.
But while it does prove that some of his story is true — such as that he wasn't immediately taken to a hospital — the video offers little evidence of what he says was a 20-minute delay. In light of the footage, there were calls for the establishment to release a statement in response.
Boxing scene now reports that both Matchroom and BBBoC have commenced legal proceedings against Eubank.
