Manny Pacquiao lifted the lid on a potential clash with Vasyl Lomachenko.
The 46-year-old ended a four-year layoff after returning to the professional ring last July, entering a world title fight against WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios.
Prior to this, Pacquiao had only participated in two exhibition bouts, with his previous professional outing resulting in a unanimous decision loss to Jordanis Ugas in 2021.
But despite the lack of a meaningful fight in recent years, the former eight-division world champion still held Barrios to a majority decision draw in their rather lackluster contest.
It now appears that the Filipino icon has two viable options to consider, suggesting a permanent retirement is becoming increasingly unlikely.
Lomachenko has emerged as a possible opponent for “PacMan”, although the Ukrainian has typically campaigned at a much lower weight class.
After a glittering career in which he won world championships in three divisions, Lomachenko, 37, relinquished his IBF lightweight title and announced his retirement last June.
But now it seems a quick turnaround for the two-time Olympic gold medalist is by no means out of the question, as Pacquiao revealed to OTHER Boxing that their teams are in talks for a potential clash.
“Lomachenko is possible. There are talks. (But) it's hard to say. Talks are ongoing.”
While Pacquiao could face Lomachenko in his next fight, he also hinted that a possible rematch with his old nemesis Floyd Mayweather is also in the works.
